ClearMind ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the ClearMind mobile application (the "App").
By using ClearMind, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
Account Information
- Authentication data: Email address or phone number used to create your account via Firebase Authentication.
- Username: A display name you choose during onboarding.
- Referral code: Your unique 6-character referral code and any referral codes you redeem.
Usage Statistics
- Streak data: Duration of your focus streaks, streak history, and streak milestones.
- Clarity time: Aggregate time spent in clarity mode vs. distraction mode.
- Achievement data: Levels reached, badges earned, and progress metrics.
- App configuration: Your allowed app selections (stored as opaque Screen Time tokens — we cannot see which specific apps you select).
Device Information
- FCM Token: A Firebase Cloud Messaging device token used to send push notifications (streak reminders, referral updates).
- Device type: Basic device model information for compatibility purposes.
Screen Time Permissions
- FamilyControls authorization: ClearMind requests access to Apple's Screen Time framework to manage app shields. This data is processed entirely on your device by Apple's APIs. We do not have access to your Screen Time data, app usage history, or which specific apps you block or allow.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain the ClearMind service
- Authenticate your account and sync data across devices
- Track your focus streaks and progress
- Send push notifications (streak reminders, referral rewards, account updates)
- Process referral rewards when codes are redeemed
- Improve the App based on aggregate, anonymized usage patterns
Data Storage
Your account data and usage statistics are stored securely in Google Firebase and Firestore, which are hosted on Google Cloud Platform infrastructure. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.
Screen Time configuration data (your allowed/blocked app selections) is stored locally on your device using Apple's frameworks and shared via App Groups for the device activity extension. This data never leaves your device.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.
We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers: Firebase (Google) for authentication, data storage, and push notifications. Google's privacy practices are governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
- Legal requirements: If required by law, regulation, or legal process.
- Safety: To protect the rights, property, or safety of ClearMind, our users, or the public.
Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or regulatory purposes.
Anonymized, aggregate usage data may be retained indefinitely for product improvement purposes.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data stored in our systems
- Correct inaccurate information in your account
- Delete your account and associated data
- Opt out of push notifications via your device settings
- Revoke Screen Time permissions at any time via iOS Settings

Children's Privacy
ClearMind is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest, secure authentication via Firebase Auth, and regular security reviews. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy in the App and updating the "Last updated" date above.
